Calf Raise On A Dumbbell
Calves · Bodyweight · one side at a time
How to do it
One leg at a time, ball of the foot on a step and the other leg tucked, holding something for balance. Full range with pauses at both ends. On one leg you carry your whole bodyweight and the range is more honest: almost nobody needs more load than this. You feel that calf. It also evens out differences between sides.
Variants
The drawing stands on a dumbbell. A step or a plate works just as well: what matters is that the heel can drop below the toes.
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
