Standing Dumbbell Triceps Extension

How to do it

Seated or standing, one dumbbell held with both hands behind your head, elbows pointing up and tucked. Extend the arms without letting the elbows travel, and lower until you feel a solid triceps stretch. With the arm overhead the long head works stretched, which is what a pushdown does not give you. You feel a pull behind the arm. Careful not to arch your lower back.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
