Side Lateral Raise

Shoulders · Dumbbell · ×2 dumbbells

Side Lateral Raise

You hold two: the weight you log is ONE dumbbell's, and volume counts both.

How to do it

Standing, dumbbells at your sides, elbows with a small bend that never changes. Raise to shoulder height **leading with the elbows, not the hands**: imagine pouring water from the dumbbell, little finger slightly high. Lower slowly, the descent is half the exercise. You feel it right on the side of the shoulder. Two common mistakes: going above shoulder height (the traps take over) and using so much weight you start bouncing.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
