Snatch Shrug
Back · Barbell
How to do it
**Very wide** snatch grip, hook or overhand, with the bar hanging at mid-thigh. Back flat and torso leaning slightly forward. Shrug hard towards your ears and return. With a wide grip the bar starts lower and the traps work at a different angle than in a clean shrug. It takes a lot of weight, but **if the shoulders are not really rising, there is too much on the bar**. The classic mistake is pulling with the arms: the elbows stay straight throughout.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
