Sit-Up

How to do it

Lie on the floor with your feet anchored, under something solid or held by a partner, and your knees bent. Hands beside your head or crossed on your chest. **Curl up vertebra by vertebra** until you are sitting, and lower just as slowly. It is the classic sit-up: it works the abs and also the hip flexors, which is why some people avoid it and others need it. The classic mistake is coming up as one rigid block with a flat back, which is when the hip flexors take everything.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
