Single-Leg High Box Squat

How to do it
Set a box in the rack with a band or rope hanging above it to hold. Step onto the box on one leg until you are standing, the other leg hanging in front. Lower slowly by bending the standing knee, letting the free leg drop past the side of the box, as far as you control; drive up through the heel. The rope is for balance, **not for pulling**. It is the progression towards the pistol squat. The classic mistake is gripping the rope hard: if you pull, your arms are doing the exercise.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
