Seated Cable Shoulder Press
Shoulders · Cable
How to do it
Sit in the cable station with the handles at shoulder height and the elbows around 90 degrees, chest and head up. Press up to locked elbows, bringing your hands slightly together at the top, and lower under control without the stacks resting. The cable keeps tension at lockout too, which is where a dumbbell press rests, and the backrest stops you arching. The classic mistake is only going halfway down to handle more weight: the range ends with the elbow at 90 degrees.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
