Rocking Standing Calf Raise

How to do it

Bar on your upper back inside the rack, feet at hip width flat on the floor. **Rock forward and back**: rise onto your toes squeezing the calf, and on the way down keep going until your toes lift and you are on your heels, feeling your shins. It is two movements chained: calf and tibialis anterior. Training the tibialis is what prevents shin pain when running. The classic mistake is doing it fast and losing balance with a loaded bar on your back.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
