Reverse Triceps Bench Press
Triceps · Barbell
How to do it
Lie on a flat bench and unrack with an **underhand grip**, palms towards you, at shoulder width. Lower the bar to your lower chest keeping your elbows tucked, and press. The reverse grip tucks the elbows naturally and aims the work at the triceps and upper chest. **Use safeties or a spotter**: with your palms towards you, the bar is far harder to control if a rep fails. The classic mistake is unracking it alone with a heavy load.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
