Pushups (Close and Wide Hand Positions)
Chest · Bodyweight
How to do it
This is two push-ups in one set: some with the hands **closer than shoulder width** and some **wider**, alternating. Body straight on your toes for both. With the hands close the elbows stay tucked and the triceps lead; with the hands wide the range shortens and the outer chest leads. Breathe in on the way down and out on the way up in both. The classic mistake is changing the width without changing the elbows: on the close version they have to travel backwards, not out to the sides.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
