Push-Up Wide

How to do it

Hands **clearly wider than your shoulders**, body in a plank on your toes, elbows straight and hips not sagging. Lower your chest towards the floor, breathing in, and press up as you breathe out, squeezing the chest at the top. A wide grip shortens the range and opens the chest more: less triceps, more outer chest. You feel the stretch along the edge of the pec at the bottom. The classic mistake is going so wide that the elbow sits behind the shoulder at the bottom; if the front of the shoulder nips, bring the hands in a hand's width.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
