Power Snatch from Blocks

How to do it

A power snatch with the bar resting on boxes at whatever height you want to train. Very wide grip, feet under your hips, flat back. Extend hard and receive the bar with straight arms overhead, without going past a half squat. Starting from a dead stop forces you to build all the tension before moving, and removing the bottom portion buys you a lot of quality reps. The classic mistake is pressing the bar up at the end: your arms straighten because you drop under, not because you push.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
