Overhead Squat
Legs · Barbell
How to do it
Bar on the floor and feet wider than your shoulders. Take a **very wide** grip, lift the bar and take it overhead with straight, locked arms, the bar behind the line of your ears. Squat as deep as you can keeping the bar there and your torso upright; stand by pushing the floor away. It is **the most honest mobility test there is**: if anything is short — ankle, hip or shoulder — it shows immediately. Empty bar to begin. The classic mistake is letting the bar drift forward.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
