Lying Close-Grip Barbell Triceps Press To Chin
Triceps · Barbell
How to do it
Lie on a flat bench with a straight or EZ bar gripped overhand, hands close together, arms straight over your chest. Lower the bar **to your chin** with your elbows tucked, and press straight up. It sits between a close-grip press and a skull crusher: the elbow bends more than in a press but the shoulder still helps. The classic mistake is flaring the elbows on the way down, which turns it into a chest press with an awkward grip.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
