Lying Close-Grip Barbell Triceps Extension Behind The Head
Triceps · Barbell
How to do it
Lie on a flat bench with a straight or EZ bar gripped overhand, hands close together, arms straight over your chest. **Lower the bar behind your head**, not to your forehead, letting your shoulders open slightly, until you feel the stretch in the triceps; extend back to vertical. Taking it behind lengthens the range and stretches the long head far more than a classic skull crusher. The classic mistake is the weight: with that stretch you lift noticeably less.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
