Leverage Shoulder Press
Shoulders · Machine
How to do it
Set the seat so the handles are at the top of your shoulders at the start. Chest and head up, back against the pad. Press up by extending the elbows, hold a second and return **without the stops touching** until the set is done. The machine fixes the path and the backrest stops you arching, so this is the shoulder press where you can get closest to failure on your own. The classic mistake is setting the seat too low: if the handles start above your ear, you only get half the range.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
