Hanging Bar Good Morning
Legs · Barbell
How to do it
Hang the bar from the rack on chains or straps at about stomach height. Step under and rest it on your upper back. Extend your hips to lift it until you are standing and lower under control. Hanging from straps, **the bar swings**: any jerk shows up instantly and forces you to rise smoothly and in line. It is the good morning that teaches control best, even if it is the one you move least weight with. The classic mistake is starting abruptly: the bar swings and you never get it back.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
