Crunch - Hands Overhead

Crunch - Hands Overhead

How to do it

Lie on your back with your knees bent about 60 degrees and your arms **straight behind your head**, side by side. Curl up keeping your arms straight and close to your ears, and lower slowly. Arms overhead lengthen the lever: with the same abs, the crunch gets much heavier without adding a gram. The classic mistake is bringing your arms forward mid-set to make it easier; once they come forward, it is a normal crunch.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
