How to do it
The apparatus usually has neutral handles at the sides, though some have a straight bar. Stand in the middle, hinge at the hips, chest up, and grip. **The weight sits ahead of the pivot**, so the pull feels very different from a normal deadlift: the load gets lighter as you rise. Extend hips and knees together and finish standing. You feel the upper back and your grip. The classic mistake is starting with the hips too low: here you are not pushing the floor away, you are opening the hips.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
