Board Press

How to do it
Set up as for a bench press and have one to five boards placed on your chest — or strapped on. Lower the bar until you **touch the board, pause, and press**. Each board shortens the range a couple of centimetres: one trains the middle, four train only the lockout. It lets you load above your bench in the portion that fails you, and rests the shoulder from the bottom. The classic mistake is bouncing off the board: the pause is what makes the exercise worth doing.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
