Barbell Rear Delt Row
Shoulders · Barbell
How to do it
Stand holding a barbell overhand and **wider than your shoulders**. Knees slightly bent, hips back and torso hinged to nearly parallel with the floor, back flat. Row the bar to your upper chest with the **elbows flared out**, not tucked: that one detail is what turns a lat row into a rear-delt row. Squeeze for a second at the top and lower under control. The classic mistake is tucking the elbows on the last reps when it gets heavy: at that point you are doing a different exercise.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
