Barbell Lunge
Legs · Barbell
How to do it
Unrack the bar onto your upper back. Take a long step forward and drop **straight down**, bending both knees until the back one almost touches the floor and the front thigh is parallel. Push back up through your front heel and bring your feet together. Torso tall throughout. You feel the quad and glute of the front leg. The classic mistake is too short a step: the front knee travels past the foot and the knee takes everything.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
