Barbell Incline Shoulder Raise

How to do it

Lie on an incline bench and unrack the bar with a grip slightly wider than your shoulders, holding it above you with your arms **straight and locked**. From there, without bending the elbow, push the bar a few centimetres higher by letting your shoulder blades come off the bench, then return letting them settle back. The range is a couple of inches and that is the point: it trains the serratus, which stabilises the shoulder blade in every press. The classic mistake is bending the elbow even slightly and turning it into half a press.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
