Band Pull Apart
Shoulders · Band
How to do it
Standing, hold the band with both hands and straight arms out in front at chest height, palms down. Pull your hands apart, opening your arms out to the sides until the band touches your sternum, **without bending the elbows**, and return slowly. Squeeze the shoulder blades for a second at the end of every rep. This is the shoulder-health warm-up exercise: cheap, safe, and fine to do daily. The classic mistake is shrugging as you open; the shoulders stay down and away from your ears.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
