Box Squat

How to do it
Box or bench at the height you want to work. Sit back until you **touch the box without dropping onto it**, pause a beat and stand. It teaches sitting back, controls depth, and is useful coming back from a niggle. You feel glutes and hamstrings more than in a free squat. The classic mistake is bouncing off the box.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
