How to do it
Overhand grip slightly wider than your shoulders, hanging with straight arms. Start by **pulling your shoulders down** (elbows still straight) and from there pull until your chin clears the bar, chest towards the bar, legs quiet. Lower under control to a full stretch. You feel the whole lat. The classic mistake is swinging: if you need momentum, use the assisted version or do negatives.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
