Standing Overhead Barbell Triceps Extension
Triceps · Barbell
How to do it
Standing with a straight or EZ bar gripped overhand with your hands close, raised overhead with straight arms. **With the elbows anchored pointing at the ceiling**, lower the bar behind your head bending only the forearms, until you feel the stretch, and extend. It is the overhead extension that takes the most load, which is why it grows the long head best. The classic mistake is arching your lower back as you extend: brace before the first rep.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
