Standing Front Barbell Raise Over Head
Shoulders · Barbell
How to do it
Standing with a barbell overhand, hands **closer than shoulder width**, resting on your thighs with straight arms. Raise the bar in front without bending the elbows to eye level and keep going until it is overhead; lower slowly the same way. With a bar both arms are forced to move together, so neither can help the other. The classic mistake is a hip jerk to start: if the bar bounces off your thighs, it is too heavy.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
