Standing Barbell Calf Raise
Calves · Barbell
How to do it
Bar on your upper back inside the rack, with the balls of your feet on a block or step and your heels free, feet at hip width. **Drop your heels as far as they go**, stretching the calf, and rise onto your toes, squeezing for two seconds at the top. Standing with a straight knee works the gastrocnemius, the one that gives the shape. The classic mistake is bouncing: the calf is very elastic and without a pause at the top and a stretch at the bottom, the set does nothing.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
