Snatch from Blocks

How to do it

A snatch with the bar resting on boxes at whatever height you want to train. Very wide grip, feet under your hips, flat back and shoulders ahead of the bar. Extend hard, shrug and drop under into a squat to receive it with straight arms overhead. Removing the floor portion lets you drill the failing part over and over without the fatigue of a full pull, and starting from a dead stop teaches you to build tension before moving. The classic mistake is relaxing between reps: the position is rebuilt every time.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
