Side Jackknife

How to do it
Lie **on your side** with your legs stacked and straight, your bottom hand on the floor in front of you and the top one beside your head. Close your side: **lift both legs and your top shoulder together**, bringing elbow towards hip, hold a second and lower slowly. Do all the reps on one side then swap. It is side flexion with both levers working, so the oblique fully contracts. The classic mistake is rolling onto your back as you lift: your body stays on its edge.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
