Reverse Band Power Squat
Legs · Barbell
How to do it
Loaded bar in the rack with bands anchored at the top, no box. Unrack it onto your upper back and squat normally: descend with the hips back past parallel and stand. The band unloads the bottom and leaves the full weight at the top, so you train the lockout with loads you could not stand up with from the hole. **Check the anchor before loading**: a band letting go with the bar on your back is the worst thing that can happen. The classic mistake is relying on the band's rebound.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
