Pin Presses

How to do it
Bar on the rack pins at whatever height of the press you want to train. Lie down, grip it and **press from a dead stop**, with no eccentric: every rep starts with the bar still on the pins. Set it back down and repeat. With no bounce and no stretch, you train pure starting strength, and you can load above your full press. The classic mistake is getting momentum by moving your chest first: the bar leaves the pin because you press, not because you shift.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
