Otis-Up

How to do it

Lie on your back with your feet anchored and knees bent, holding a plate or dumbbell **against your chest with both hands**. Curl up until you are sitting and lower slowly, without releasing the weight or letting it drift away from you. It is the classic weighted sit-up, and the simplest way to progress once reps stop counting. The classic mistake is letting the weight drift from your chest for leverage on the way down: it stays on your sternum all set.

Variants

The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
