Kettlebell Sumo High Pull
Back · Kettlebell
How to do it
Kettlebell on the floor between your feet, wide stance with toes turned out slightly. Hips well back, chest and head up, and grip the handle with both hands. Extend hips and knees hard, as if jumping, and let that drive send the kettlebell up; follow it by pulling with high elbows to chest height. Lower under control to the start. **The power comes from the hips, not the arms**: the elbows only catch up. The classic mistake is pulling with the shoulders from the bottom, which turns an explosive lift into a slow, bad row.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
