Calf-Machine Shoulder Shrug
Back · Machine
How to do it
This is a shrug done in a standing calf machine: get under it with the pads **on your shoulders**, torso tall and arms hanging relaxed at your sides. Lift your shoulders towards your ears as you breathe out, hold the squeeze for a second and lower slowly. Because the weight rests on you instead of hanging from your hands, grip limits nothing: here you can load whatever the traps can take. The classic mistake is helping with the legs; knees straight and still, only the shoulders move.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
