How to do it
This is the Atlas stone substitute for anyone without one: a loaded axle you hug the same way. Straddle it, hinge at the hips and wrap your arms around the implement until your hands meet underneath. Brace, extend hips and knees to bring it onto your lap, reset it against your chest and finish standing tall. Your upper back rounds **on purpose** while the lower back stays flat: that is what lets you hug it. The classic mistake is pulling with the arms only; the object rises by being squeezed into your body and driven up by the hips.
Variants
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
