Band Assisted Pull-Up
Back · Machine
How to do it
Set the assistance (machine weight or band) so you can do 6 to 12 clean reps through a full range. Same technique as a pull-up: shoulders down first, chest to the bar, controlled descent. Remove assistance week by week; it is the tidiest way to reach a free pull-up, far better than grinding out half reps.
Variants
The drawing shows band assistance. The machine does the same job: the more weight you set on the pad, the more it helps you up.
The drawing shows one way of doing it, and the technique above describes that one. Almost every exercise has variants — standing or seated, the grip, the bench angle — and is still the same exercise: if you do it another way, write it in the exercise note and you will have it every time you train it.
